Training Teens in First Aid Techniques
With almost 1400 people per day dying of heart attacks, it seems sensible to agree that many more people need to become AED (automated external defibrillator) and CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) certified. Teenagers are a part of the population that is sometimes overlooked when considering who to train. Think about it. They are already in a learning environment and are capable of grasping and understanding the magnitude of cardiac arrest deaths on families and society. It is painfully obvious that training teenagers in first aid techniques, either through on-site CPR training, or online CPR and AED schooling is the key to lowering those statistics.
While there are many schools that do offer on-site CPR training and course work to their high school students, most do not make it mandatory to take classes in first aid techniques. What keeps schools from teaching these valuable skills to their students? Typically, class periods are just not long enough to teach AED and CPR classes, which generally last around four hours.
A good example of these cost and time saving measures are those provided by the American Heart Association (AHA), as this association will provide AED and CPR training classes in schools. A program called Heartsaver CPR In Schools, which is provided by the AHA, is a wonderful course that is taught by certified CPR and AED instructors on-site at individual schools. Students are able to learn how to give CPR and use an AED machine following along in a workbook and by practicing with a video.
Another option for training students in first aid techniques is using online classes to teach these methods. These courses are a great way to implement student CPR and AED training in schools affordably. Although there are quite a large number of CPR and AED instructional programs online, you will want to pick one that can provide a no-hassle method of teaching and training, by overseeing the entire process from beginning to end.
CPR AED training courses that are offered online should be implemented and conducted by an AHA or American Red Cross certified trainer who can communicate with those students who have questions. When choosing an online course, keep in mind the overall package, since some online instructors will make the process easier on student educators than others. This is done by providing affordable rates, grading the student's work and sometimes even sending the reports to the appropriate teachers. Whether an online course is chosen or whether it is on-site CPR training in first aid techniques at the school, providing teenagers with the skills and knowledge to help their fellow man is the right thing to do.

Online CPR And First Aid Training
When the heart stops functioning, a healthy human brain can survive without oxygen for up to four minutes without suffering any permanent and debilitating damage.
